Viet Nam is the holy grail for global beer companies, with the market continuing to grow while many others have flatlined, but the competition is fierce.
The Saigon Beer, Alcohol and Beverage Corporation (Sabeco) produced nearly 1.73 billion litres of beer in 2017, an increase of 7 per cent compared to the previous year and exceeding 5 per cent against the year target.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) on Monday sold entire its 343.6 million shares (53.6 per cent) of the Saigon Beer, Alcohol and Beverage Corporation, receiving an estimated US$4.89 billion.
Shares of Viet Nam’s biggest brewer Sabeco will be sold at an initial price of VND320,000 (US$14) apiece during the sale of the State’s majority stake in the company, whose shares are coded SAB on the HCM Stock Exchange.
